Exercise and Ease Stress

We can all combat the stress from daily living by taking advantage of the increased levels of endorphins that are released when we exercise. Endorphins are the chemicals in our brain that actually make us feel good, happy and reduce the feeling of stress. We all need a break from the stress these days, and this is the cheapest easiest way to do so.

Today's struggling economy and growing unemployment is causing an enormous amount of stress throughout our society. People are dealing with financial crisis like never before in their lives. This is causing increased health problems and wide spread depression. We are all being forced to re-evaluate our priorities and put more focus on our health and our families. To put things in the right perspective, exercise does not need to take a lot of time either.

A 30 minute workout can leave you with a feeling of contentment and general happiness. Experts say that even a few minutes walking around the block a day will help to reduce stress and keep one feeling uplifted. It costs you nothing to go jogging, or do some aerobics at home. You don't need to pay for a gym membership, or spend money on expensive exercising machines. A workout can be as simple as running up and down the stairs in your house.

Don't underestimate the bonding power of going for a walk in the park with your family. This can reduce the stress levels that the entire family may be feeling. Again it costs you nothing, and the benefits to your health and the health of your family are numerous. Make an afternoon of it! Go to the local park and play Frisbee, or simply play on the playground with your children.

An exercise program doesn't have to be some kind of formal, professional plan. It can be as simple as scheduling a few walks each week. Pick up the pace a bit on that walk and get some real cardio benefits as well. You can use common everyday items that are found in your home to create an easy muscle building workout.

Try lifting your gallon of milk up and down with each arm. Don't worry! Having it out of the fridge for a few minutes won't hurt it. Do you have a dictionary or other heavy books? You can use them as weights as well. Look around your house; check the basement and the garage. Odds are pretty good that you have things lying about that can be used in a workout successfully.

The idea is to move your body. Being sedentary only increases depression, and can lead to serious health problems over time. Take advantage of fun easy activities that are free, and that can bring your family closer together while increasing their fitness and health.
