Exercises to Reduce Stress - How to Stay Happy and Healthy in Minutes a Day

Breathing Techniques
These have been found to have a profound effect in reducing stress. The technique is that first one should breathe normally but deeply to get enough oxygen in the lungs. Then one should breathe in through one nose and release the air through the other. This can be done by blocking the particular nostril with your thumb or finger. Repeat this at least ten times.

Neck Massages
Tension tends to build up in the neck areas. So first let your chin drop loose. Then move your head from left to right and top to bottom. Finally roll your neck in clockwise and anticlockwise directions. All the while breathe in and breathe out deeply.

Loosen up
Just let your body go. In a sitting posture, hold up your hands and move them in circular directions, clockwise and anticlockwise. Get up and do the same. Now move one leg to and fro like a pendulum. Repeat with the other leg. Next let your hands move in all directions followed by your feet. Then let your fingers loosen up and move them in whichever way you want. Do the same for your feet and then your toes.

Helpful Stretches
Do some stretching exercises while standing. Move your arms high and low, on each side and down below. Move your shoulders in clockwise direction in a circular motion and then anticlockwise. Move downwards from your waist. Move to the right and then to the left waist upwards.

Take the kinks out of your back
It's been found that stress can cause profound back problems. This exercise will surely help. Sit on the edge of your chair with feet flat. Move forward from your waist and touch your knees with your chest. Then let your hands swing loosely while breathing in. then slowly breathe out and roll your back little by little until you are upright again. Repeat this about ten times for complete relaxation of your back.

Meditation
Lie down flat on your back with your arms on your sides. Starting with your toes try to relax each and every part by thinking that it's relaxed and immovable. Continue for each and every part of your body. This will really help you to relax and sleep better too.

Stay Active!
Try physical activities like swimming, cycling, walking and jogging. The physical activities will reduce stress and keep you fit. This will fill you with enthusiasm and energize you.
