The Importance of Workout Songs

For the most part, people find it very easy to begin a new exercise program. It's the most common New Year's resolution that millions make every year. The problem people run into is sticking with it for the long term in order to see the results they're looking for. If results aren't seen right away, it can be easy for people to give up, and they do. In order to have a successful health and fitness program, you need to think about why you want to get fit and healthy. I've learned that when you have a "why", it's easier to figure out the "how". If you don't know why you want to workout, you're likely to give up pretty quickly.

One of the biggest motivators for exercise is having great workout songs. Music is a great motivator and can really be the difference between a bad workout, a good workout and a really great workout. Our favorite workout songs can help push us to work even harder than we normally would.

There is no hard set rule on which workout songs work best. Some people enjoy just listening to their favorite songs, whatever they might be, and some people actually have a certain playlist for different types of workouts.

Cardio Exercise Workout Songs

The best songs for cardio exercise include those that have fast tempos. The quicker the tempo, the more quickly you're likely to move. A few great genres to include in cardio workout songs include techno, rap and rhythm and blues (or R&B).

Weightlifting Workout Songs

Weightlifting isn't about moving real fast, it's about lifting weights so you need something that can help give you that extra push when you need it most. A lot of people find rock songs to be the best for weightlifting workout songs. Genres to explore include rock, alternative and heavy metal.

Like stated earlier, there isn't any rule that everybody needs to follow. People just need to figure out which songs help them get through their workouts and decide which songs give them that extra push. If you aren't sure which type of music motivates you most, create a few different playlists with mixed genres and see which songs stand out to you and actually help you during your workout. The music choices you decide on really do make a huge difference in what you may or may not get out of a workout session.
